The important thing out of Geelong\u2019s 75-point win isn\u2019t the margin, it\u2019s that they\u2019re starting to look like themselves again without getting ahead of it.<\/p>\n

Chris Scott made that pretty clear post-game. He was happy with the way they played, but quick to point out the context. It\u2019s not just who you play, it\u2019s when you get them.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s exactly how it feels inside a club.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs had issues on the night, and once the game got away from them, Geelong took full control. That\u2019s what good teams do. But internally, you\u2019re not sitting there saying everything\u2019s fixed.<\/p>\n

What you do take is how it looked.<\/p>\n

The ball movement was sharper, the pressure held up, and their best players led the way. Smith, Holmes, those types got the game on their terms, and everything else flowed from there.<\/p>\n

Then there\u2019s Jeremy Cameron.<\/p>\n

Ten goals is dominance. Simple as that. When he gets going like that, there\u2019s not a defender in the competition who can stop him.<\/p>\n

But Geelong won\u2019t rely on that.<\/p>\n

What I liked more was the system.<\/p>\n

Ollie Dempsey\u2019s role is a genuine weapon now. If you\u2019ve played on a winger doing that job, you know how tough it is. He drags you deep, forces you to defend, and by the time it\u2019s your turn to attack, you\u2019ve got nothing left.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s system and discipline, and it\u2019s a sign Geelong\u2019s starting to click after a disjointed start to the year.<\/p>\n

But there are still gaps.<\/p>\n

The small forwards aren\u2019t settled. Stengle hasn\u2019t played this season, Myers now looks like he could be out long-term with that knee, and they\u2019re still working through that mix.<\/p>\n

That matters, because you\u2019re not getting ten from Cameron every week.<\/p>\n

So the next game becomes the real one.<\/p>\n

Port Adelaide will test you, not because they\u2019re a great side, but because they\u2019ll expose you if you\u2019re off. They pushed Hawthorn right to the line at Marvel, competed hard, but they\u2019re not a top-tier team.<\/p>\n

What they will do is bring pressure.<\/p>\n

And if Geelong\u2019s system slips, even slightly, that\u2019s when you get found out. That\u2019s what good footy sides do, they don\u2019t need to be the best, they just need to be good enough to expose your weaknesses.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the difference between a big home win and backing it up on the road.<\/p>\n

Right now, Geelong\u2019s trending the right way. The system looks better, the key players are up and going, and there\u2019s some confidence building.<\/p>\n

But inside the club, the message won\u2019t change.<\/p>\n

It only matters if you back it up.<\/p>\n
