Local cricket sensation Oliver Peake\u2019s rapid rise has reached another milestone, with the teenager named in Australia\u2019s One Day International squad for next month\u2019s tour of Pakistan.<\/p>\n
The 19-year-old has earned his first call-up to a senior men\u2019s national squad and could become Australia\u2019s youngest One Day International batter if he debuts during the three-match series, which begins on 30 May.<\/p>\n
Peake has been included in a 15-player squad alongside established Australian stars including captain Mitch Marsh, Alex Carey and Marnus Labuschagne.<\/p>\n
The selection caps a remarkable 12 months for the left-hander, who captained Australia at this year\u2019s under-19 World Cup and continues to build an impressive r\u00e9sum\u00e9 across domestic cricket.<\/p>\n
Peake also broke through with the Melbourne Renegades during the most recent Big Bash League season, scoring 167 runs from six innings, including a match-winning knock against the Perth Scorchers.<\/p>\n
The young batter has also competed for Victoria at state level and made several appearances for Geelong in the Premier Cricket competition.<\/p>\n
Australia will travel on to Bangladesh following the Pakistan series for another three One Day International matches and two T20 clashes. Peake will not be part of that squad as senior players including Travis Head and Cooper Connolly return to the setup.<\/p>\n
