Photo: Nicole Cleary.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>More than $32 million is being invested in airport infrastructure to improve capacity, efficiency and the overall passenger journey.<\/p>\n<p>These enhancements support growing domestic and international services and position Avalon for continued airline expansion.<\/p>\n<p>International passenger services have resumed this week, with five flights per week to Bali.<\/p>\n<p>Services to Adelaide also commence this week, alongside additional Jetstar services to Brisbane, further strengthening Avalon&#8217;s connectivity across key domestic and international routes.<\/p>\n<p>A growing cargo and logistics hub<\/p>\n<p>The recently completed Avalon Cargo Terminal marks a significant step forward in freight capability, enabling the efficient movement of e-commerce, time-sensitive and high-value goods.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, the next phase of growth will be driven by large-scale global partnerships, connecting Avalon into major international logistics networks and unlocking faster, more efficient trade pathways.<\/p>\n<p>A thriving industrial and defence precinct<\/p>\n<p>Development across the broader site is supporting new warehousing, advanced manufacturing and defence operations, reinforcing Avalon as a major employment and industry hub.<\/p>\n<p>This includes significant investment from major tenants such as Hanwha Defence Australia, with its Armoured Vehicle Centre of Excellence further cementing Avalon&#8217;s role in supporting national defence capability and advanced manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>A global stage through the Avalon Airshow<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2026\/05\/AvalonAirport3mb211_70351.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"876\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Major expansion across aviation, freight and industry is underway at Melbourne Avalon Airport as the precinct enters a new phase of accelerated growth. Photo: Nicole Cleary.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Avalon Australian International Airshow continues to attract global attention, bringing together industry leaders, defence organisations and aviation enthusiasts from around the world.<\/p>\n<p>The 2025 event welcomed more than 900 exhibiting companies and 291 official delegations from 43 nations, reinforcing Avalon&#8217;s position on the global stage, while delivering an estimated $31.85 million in direct economic benefit to the Geelong region.<\/p>\n<p>Suss said the combined impact of these developments signals a confident and ambitious future.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The trajectory of growth at Avalon is accelerating,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With every new route, every freight movement and every development across the precinct, we are building something much bigger: an integrated hub that supports industry, connects communities and opens up new opportunities for the region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What lies ahead, particularly in cargo, is significant.
