Torquay emerged on top, winning the open and junior divisions and finishing fourth in the women&#8217;s event.<\/p>\n<p>Torquay&#8217;s open team featured Xavier Huxtable, Willis Droomer and Tully Wylie in the men&#8217;s division, alongside Ellie Harrison, over-35 surfer Jack Perry and under-18 representative Jarvis Barrow.<\/p>\n<p>Wylie, who is also club president, said the team set the tone early.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had a really great run in the open division,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We had 49.6 points out of a possible 70 in our first heat.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our average score would have been a seven across the board for the team, so that set us up really well and everyone was really confident going into the final.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the decider, Torquay faced off against the Point Lonsdale, Peninsula and 13th Beach boardriders clubs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All the teams go deep and are really strong, so we we knew that the job wasn&#8217;t done,&#8221; Wylie said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had a good start with Willis getting a seven, and then Xav went out and dropped the highest score of the day: 9.17.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After that we were pretty well set up and good on time, so we just ticked the boxes and got all the rest of our surfers through and ended up dropping another 47-point total and winning by 15 to 20 points.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/05\/TBCteamtitles2_73784.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The victorious Torquay Boardriders Club junior team. Photo: Torquay Boardriders Club.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The junior team featured Jarvis Barrow and Jack Lindsay in the under-18 boys division, Stevie O&#8217;Day in the under-18 girls and Harlem Pec in the under-16s.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Jarvis, who&#8217;s been surfing in our open team, led the charge and put on a really strong performance,&#8221; Wylie said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That was Harlem&#8217;s first ever tag-team event and he did really well. He didn&#8217;t get the opportunity to surf as good as he can just because of the conditions, but he still dropped around a 6-point ride, which is impressive.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was Stevie O&#8217;Day&#8217;s first tag-team as well, and she&#8217;s amazing. I think she had almost a 6-point ride on an under-18 scale and she&#8217;s a 12-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They all worked together really well.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Wylie said reclaiming the Victorian Teams Titles was especially meaningful given the event&#8217;s long history within the state surfing scene.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Being number one in this state just really solidifies how good the club is and how strong we are,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve got a huge member base of almost 300 people, we&#8217;re running a lot of junior programs and we&#8217;ve been doing a lot of training at the moment to get everyone ready for the bigger moments like this.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s cool to see everyone&#8217;s hard work pay off.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Surfing Victoria chief executive Adam Robertson said the Victorian Teams Titles remained one of the most enjoyable and engaging events on the state calendar.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The teams titles create an atmosphere unlike any other event throughout the year,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is a real sense of pride and connection that comes with representing your boardrider club, and it always produces an exciting day of surfing.
