ONE of Armstrong Creek’s busiest roads has undergone a $3.2 million overhaul, with major renewal works on Warralily Boulevard now complete.<\/p>\n
The City of Greater Geelong has finished resurfacing 4.1km of Warralily Boulevard between Barwon Heads Road and the Surf Coast Highway, along with a 500m section of Coastside Drive.<\/p>\n
Funded through the federal government’s Roads to Recovery program, the works began in November and wrapped up last month, renewing about 61,000sqm of asphalt along a corridor that has experienced growing traffic volumes as Armstrong Creek continues to expand.<\/p>\n
The upgrade included the use of recycled asphalt, glass and crumb rubber, which the city says made up about one-third of the materials used in the new road surface.<\/p>\n
Federal member for Corangamite Libby Coker said the project reflected growing demand for infrastructure in the rapidly developing suburb.<\/p>\n
“People across Armstrong Creek are calling out for better local roads and this upgrade responds to that advocacy,” she said.<\/p>\n
The timing of the project was coordinated with the Barwon Heads Road duplication works, which are continuing nearby.<\/p>\n
Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said the road’s role in linking key destinations across Armstrong Creek made the upgrade important for residents.<\/p>\n
“This is a busy area connecting schools, shops and community facilities, so it’s important the road is as safe as possible for pedestrians and drivers,” he said.<\/p>\n
