{"id":132142,"date":"2026-06-16T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=132142"},"modified":"2026-06-10T20:20:28","modified_gmt":"2026-06-10T10:20:28","slug":"pop-up-flu-clinic-heads-to-lara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/pop-up-flu-clinic-heads-to-lara\/","title":{"rendered":"Pop-up flu clinic heads to Lara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FOLLOWING the success of its biggest pop-up flu clinic in six years, Geelong Mobile Vaccination Services will bring its mobile vaccination program to Lara later this month.<\/p>\n<p>The Geelong-based provider is expanding its winter outreach program after almost 200 people attended a recent pop-up clinic in Torquay, many of them first-time clients.<\/p>\n<p>Registered nurse immuniser Hannah McFadden said several attendees praised the convenience and accessibility of the service.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They just said it was really nice and liked that it was close to where they were,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2026\/06\/26_50773.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The clinic offers both the vaccination needle as well as the nasal spray option for children aged two to 17. Photo: Nyah Barnes.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The pop-up clinics are designed to make annual flu vaccinations easier to access, particularly for families who can attend together.<\/p>\n<p>Demand for the service continues to grow. After vaccinating about 1,800 people throughout 2025, Geelong Mobile Vaccination Services has already reached 2,700 people this year.<\/p>\n<p>The clinics are also offering the new nasal spray influenza vaccine for children and teenagers aged two to 17.<\/p>\n<p>Many visitors have also enjoyed meeting Juma, the service&#8217;s therapy dog, who helps ease anxiety for those feeling nervous about being vaccinated.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2026\/06\/26_76060.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Therapy dog Juma (pictured with Tash Jennings) continues to attend the clinics helping make the experience easier for nervous clients.
