Photo: Peter Marshall.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With no more than 120 players initially expect to compete, Shirley said seeing so many competitors take to the courts was a promising sign for the sport&#8217;s future.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament&#8217;s success comes as pickleball continues to surge in popularity, with Ocean Grove Pickleball Club vice-president Fran Kealey saying demand is now beginning to outpace available courts.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/07\/B07K9272-MikeMadden-_40189.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Day two of the Ocean Grove Classic featured the mixed competition.
