EVAN Crick\u2019s knowledge of business has seen him achieve many accolades in his life \u2013 the most noteworthy being his establishment of Mitre 10 in Torquay. <\/p>\n

Beginning as Surfside Timber in 1984, the store became part of the Mitre 10 franchise in 1988.<\/p>\n

And for the 30 years it was in his hands, customers experienced Evan and wife Sue\u2019s dedication to exceptional service. <\/p>\n

Prior to Mitre 10, Evan managed hotels in Melbourne and worked as an agent for Godfrey Hirst. <\/p>\n

It was when the Ash Wednesday bushfires devastated Victoria that he made the plunge into the world of business. <\/p>\n

\u201cI remember when we first came here (Torquay), there was a population of about 8,000 people.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the Ash Wednesday bushfires, I held a carpet sale in the Aireys Inlet Hall to sell carpet for people re-building houses, and that\u2019s how I got the idea to start Mitre 10.\u201d <\/p>\n

After selling the business in 2014, Evan went on to work as a Mitre 10 consultant and mentored many Mitre 10 and Home Timber and Hardware staff across Australia. <\/p>\n

But the travel eventually wore him down after nearly five years in the role. Eager to continue sharing his knowledge, Evan Crick Consulting was born.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought, with all this knowledge and experience, I\u2019ve got to start something else,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to help people, both independent businesses and corporates. There are a lot of businesses in Torquay and the coastal areas which are mum and dad businesses that could probably do with some help.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll businesses need some kind of advice. You\u2019ve got to look at evolving your business as people\u2019s needs change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Based in Jan Juc, Evan is looking forward to expanding his reach and working with a range of Victorian businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy forte is in retail and customer service, but I know I won\u2019t have any trouble applying my knowledge to other industries. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got more than 50 years\u2019 experience and a fair bit to offer.\u201d<\/p>\n
