Not-for-profit organisation Women in Super is calling on people who are passionate about volunteerism to host a Mother\u2019s Day Classic fundraiser in a town or region where there is no registered event.<\/p>\n

Earmarked for May 10, the annual fun run and walk raises vital funds and awareness for breast cancer research. <\/p>\n

About 100 events will take place around the country, with 100,000 movers and shakers tying up their laces to make noise for the cause. <\/p>\n

Mother\u2019s Day Classic Foundation chief executive officer Zara Lawless said the event, the effort of its volunteers and those involved embodied the meaning of \u201cstronger together\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Mother\u2019s Day Classic is so much more than the sum of its parts. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt is more than just a fun run and walk and it is more than a highly successful fundraiser.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a celebration that brings communities, right across Australia, together on Mother\u2019s Day, acknowledging and celebrating the lives of those touched by breast cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n

More than 70 Mother\u2019s Day Classic events were held in 2019, attracting 23,031 entrants who raised in excess of $400,000.<\/p>\n

Ms Lawless said it was important the event supported rural and regional patients, as the financial burden in travelling out of town to receive chemotherapy and specialist treatment posed significant challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe smaller fundraising events are so important for those living in regional areas and organised by some of our most passionate and community focused volunteers.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir participation makes a significant contribution to funding research into early detection, prevention and treatment of breast cancer improving the outcomes of those people affected by breast cancer.\u201d <\/p>\n

Registration to host an event closes on March 20. Those interested in hosting an event are encouraged to email regionalevents@mothersdayclassic.com.au<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
