ARMSTRONG Creek will soon be home to an expansive $1 billion development which will include a movie theatre, health and wellness centre, public library and world-class hotel. <\/p>\n
Spearheaded by Welsh Group and spanning more than 40 hectares, Armstrong Creek Town Centre has been described as a \u201clifestyle and business playground\u201d for residents and visitors to the region.<\/p>\n
The tree-lined main street will feature a medical centre, apartments, shops and cafes, which will be connected to the town library and next to the town square.<\/p>\n
But the town square \u2013 which will be built in the centre of the development \u2013 will act as a pedestrian link between the commercial, residential, retail and entertainment precincts. <\/p>\n
Other features include a cinema as well as a hotel and spa which will overlook the Armstrong Creek wetlands. <\/p>\n
Family eateries and restaurants will front the Surf Coast Highway, while supermarkets, mini majors and speciality shops will be adjacent to cinemas and fashion retailers. <\/p>\n
Stage one of the development is set to open this July, with Coles its anchor tenant. <\/p>\n
Two of the founding streets as part of stage have been named after local beaches and include Winkipop Walk and Rivernook Street, a choice Welsh Group managing director Andrew Welsh said was made to celebrate the area. <\/p>\n
“We felt it was important to connect and celebrate the local area with off the beaten track Surf Coast locations.”<\/p>\n
