The visual contents of this year\u2019s Geelong Calendar will adorn the walls at the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre until February 18. <\/p>\n
Ranging from Barwon Heads, central Geelong, Ocean Grove, Little River, Indented Head, Lara, and Anakie, the 13 photographs capture the region\u2019s architecture, local historic sites, wildlife, celebratory events and picturesque landscapes.<\/p>\n
Images on display in the Geelong Calendar Photographic Exhibition include Sam Gorell\u2019s Barwon Heads Bridge at sunset image (which features as February\u2019s artwork), John Walter\u2019s frogmouths (August), Leslie Naomi Hanson\u2019s Johnstone Park (November), Nandagopal Rajaopal\u2019s Pako Festa (December), as well as the other eight months\u2019 images and calendar cover photo. <\/p>\n
Geelong Gallery director Jason Smith selected each image and described the winning entries as \u201csimply outstanding\u201d, particularly Luke David\u2019s sunset outlook from Flinders Peak in the You Yangs which earned this year\u2019s cover slot. <\/p>\n
Geelong mayor Stephanie Asher said the winning photographers should feel proud their pieces are on display, not only as part of the exhibition, but in residents\u2019 homes. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019ve captured the unique beauty of our region and people magnificently. I know I enjoy the imagery every day as we use the Geelong Calendar to keep track of our family\u2019s commitments,\u201d Cr Asher said. <\/p>\n
The exhibition is open to the public until February 18 at the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre. Limited copies of the 2020 calendar will be also be available for free at the exhibition. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
