WHILE Round 12 of the BPCA saw the same sides face each other as in Round 11, the outcomes of the games varied significantly.<\/p>\n
Barrabool ended their run of four consecutive losses, scraping a 12-run win over Queenscliff.<\/p>\n
The two sides are evenly matched and the previous round was similarly close, with Queenscliff only reaching Barrabool’s target in the final over.<\/p>\n
Barrabool batted first and posted an impressive score of 7\/226.<\/p>\n
The score was reached through a culmination of contributions, as no Barrabool player reached 50, but five scored more than 30.<\/p>\n
Queenscliff only had one player reach 30, but that was Tim Frankenburg, who went on to make 107.<\/p>\n
Yet Barrabool managed to finish strongly to see Queenscliff finish 9\/214.<\/p>\n
Unlike Barrabool, Ocean Grove were unable to make up the small margins that cost them a win in the previous round, as they were narrowly beaten by Anglesea again.<\/p>\n
In Round 11 Anglesea had won with just two overs remaining. This week, it was only a 15-run margin that saw them remain unbeaten.<\/p>\n
Tyron Norman’s 50 helped lift Anglesea to a modest total of 6\/160.<\/p>\n
But Anglesea’s bowling line-up once again showed their unparalleled wicket-taking ability.<\/p>\n
Joseph Lynch, Jacob Nolan and Dale Kerr all took three wickets as Ocean Grove were bowled out for 145 with seven deliveries remaining.<\/p>\n
Portarlington were unable to follow their first win of the season with a second victory, as they fell to an 88-run defeat against Barwon Heads.<\/p>\n
Jan Juc defeated Collendina comfortably for the second week running, taking a 110-run victory.<\/p>\n
They were led by Ben Grinter, who finished unbeaten on 99, and Iva Priest, who took 4\/25.<\/p>\n
In the GCA, a strong start in the first week of two-day matches has improved Modewarre’s finals prospects in Division 2.<\/p>\n
Playing St Peters, they finished the day on 7\/268. Captain Jake Hooson top scored with 92, having made 104 in his previous innings.<\/p>\n
Torquay looked as though they would end the day in the dominant position against Marshall, having bowled their opposition out for just 144.<\/p>\n
However, Marshall responded brilliantly with the ball, reducing Torquay to 4\/15 by close of play.<\/p>\n
In Division 1, Leopold similarly had a difficult end to their day.<\/p>\n
