SOME of the best kiteboarders in the country will head to Point Danger tomorrow (Friday, February 21) for the 2020 Kiteboarding Australia Wave Nationals.<\/p>\n
Having previously been held in Torquay in December of 2018, the four-day event has now been rescheduled to take place during the region’s windiest month of the year.<\/p>\n
Kiteboarding Australia general manager Declan McCarthy said he was looking forward to the event returning to Torquay and expected good conditions for the event.<\/p>\n
“We’re quite excited to be coming back to Torquay to run the event this year and next year as well.<\/p>\n
“Torquay just generally receives quite good waves, as well as it being windy season, and Point Danger is a very good location to be able to host the event.”<\/p>\n
In addition to the Open competition, there are separate categories for Juniors (under 18) and Masters (35 and over).<\/p>\n
Competitors are coming from all across the country.<\/p>\n
On Saturday night, the community is also invited to join competitors and race organisers at 4 Pines X Torquay Boardriders.<\/p>\n
