It was a fantastic day filled with gorgeous women with lots of love in the room.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe best part was seeing new faces which means the event is getting bigger than just the cricket club itself, which is really fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Guests enjoyed a glass or two of bubbles, live music, raffle prizes and were moved by local Ocean Grove guest speaker Toni Smith, 40, who shared her breast cancer story.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30448\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30448\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30448 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2020\/02\/Ladies-Day-5-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30448\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tahnee Allen, Jacinta Ryan and Lisa Grigg.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI found a lump in my breast and went and got it checked out straight away, the GP thought it was a cyst. A couple of days later I found another lump under my left arm,\u201d Ms Smith said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a mammogram and the original lump did turn out to be a cyst, but there was a whole bunch of other lumps I was unable to feel that turned out to be cancerous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The mother of three was diagnosed in February 2019 and underwent two surgeries, including a mastectomy, then started six months of chemotherapy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe most surprising part when I share my story is when women congratulate me for acting so quickly once I found the lump. They say they would\u2019ve sat on it for a couple of months,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy cancer was so aggressive, who knows what my prognosis would\u2019ve been if I sat on.
