{"id":30527,"date":"2020-02-27T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-26T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=30527"},"modified":"2020-02-27T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-02-26T14:00:00","slug":"lifechanger-golf-day-tees-off-in-torquay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/sport\/lifechanger-golf-day-tees-off-in-torquay\/","title":{"rendered":"LifeChanger golf day tees off in Torquay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GOLFERS took to the fairways at The Sands Torquay on Friday last week to raise funds to improve the wellbeing of young Australians.<\/p>\n<p>About 50 people from across the Surf Coast participated in the inaugural LifeChanger Foundation Surf Coast Region Golf Day.<\/p>\n<p>Together, they raised about $4,500 for the LifeChanger Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The event was co-run by ANZ and Yellow Brick Road (YBR) Torquay.<\/p>\n<p>YBR principal and LifeChanger Foundation mentor Isaac Baker said he was delighted with how the day went.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a really good day. We managed to raise some money and raise awareness for the program in general. The Sands put on a really good well-organised day for us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Baker said he first heard about the program when he heard Surf Coast local Sean Purcell speaking as an ambassador for the foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Soon afterwards he got in touch with Purcell and LifeChanger Foundation chief executive officer Scott Watters to see how he and YBR could contribute.<\/p>\n<p>The LifeChanger Foundation works with teenagers to create safe and resilient communities. It does this through working with schools to run programs that look to promote mental health.<\/p>\n<p>McCartney Real Estate Torquay team were the winners on the day.
