{"id":30811,"date":"2020-03-12T10:37:44","date_gmt":"2020-03-12T00:37:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/11-year-old-musical-prodigy-to-play-costa-hall\/"},"modified":"2020-03-12T10:50:13","modified_gmt":"2020-03-12T00:50:13","slug":"11-year-old-musical-prodigy-to-play-costa-hall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/11-year-old-musical-prodigy-to-play-costa-hall\/","title":{"rendered":"11-year-old musical prodigy to play Costa Hall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ONE of Australia\u2019s most promising musical prodigies Christian Li will perform alongside the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) next Friday (March 20) at Costa Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Conducted by Benjamin Northey, the performance will see the delivery of three pieces of music \u2013 <em>Spiritus<\/em> (Lachlan Skipworth), <em>Violin Concerto<\/em> (Mendelssohn) and <em>Symphony No. 7<\/em> (Beethoven), which was chosen to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven\u2019s birth.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_35594\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-35594\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-35594\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/03\/5575-fitandcrop-486x486-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-35594\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Christian Li.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mr Northey said<em> Symphony No. 7<\/em> was one of the late composer\u2019s most loved orchestral symphonies, and that the MSO was looking forward to returning to Geelong to play it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the most interesting things about the concert is the soloist (Christian Li). He\u2019s a young virtuoso violinist. He\u2019s 11 years old and won the prestigious Menuhin Competition when he was 10.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a prodigy, the very true form of the word. People are fascinated when they see talent that young. It\u2019s an amazing chance to hear somebody at the beginning of a huge career so you can look back and say, \u2018I heard that soloist when they were just starting\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe orchestra loves coming to Geelong.
