<\/p>\nGEELONG & Surf Coast Cycling Club\u2019s (GSCC) Supervets Race on Wednesday last week saw a spectacular finish, with club president Tina Stenos claiming a narrow victory.<\/p>\n
The club\u2019s Supervet races are for men 60 years and older and women 50 years and older.<\/p>\n
The quality of racing was particularly high on Wednesday, with the scratch cyclists setting an average speed of 38kph throughout the race.<\/p>\n

The win was Stenos\u2019 first in the Supervets this season. She said the high calibre of opposition made the victory particularly rewarding.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of social interaction, but there\u2019s a lot of competition as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s good because those wins don\u2019t come around very easily. The stars were aligned for me\u201d<\/p>\n
Graeme Wilson came in second, with David Phillips close behind in third.<\/p>\n
Graeme Walker finished 10th but set the fastest time, finishing in 59 minutes and 17 seconds.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, March 17 GSCC decided to suspend racing due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus.<\/p>\n
Stenos said while it was disappointing to have to do so, the health of their members is the club\u2019s priority.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the interests of keeping our members safe it was the best option. They can keep riding; we just couldn\u2019t meet the criteria of social distancing.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
