ANGLESEA’S Dale Kerr has been awarded the Ray Menzies Medal for the best player in the Bellarine Peninsula Cricket Association (BPCA) for the third year running.<\/p>\n
Having finished atop of the A1 Grade ladder, Anglesea were named BPCA champions after the grand final was cancelled.<\/p>\n
Kerr said despite the unusual ending, he was pleased to have contributed to another strong season for the club.<\/p>\n
“It was really good to get another A Grade flag for the club. We were still able to enjoy ourselves even if it’s a bit disappointing we didn’t get a game in.<\/p>\n
“It’s been nice to have a good season with the ball. It’s just been about trying to help the team as much as I can.”<\/p>\n
Kerr was relentless with the ball, taking 46 wickets at an average of just 7.91. This put Kerr 15 wickets ahead of the next best bowler.<\/p>\n
Kerr was also the sixth highest run-scorer in the league, scoring 397 runs with an average of 33.08.<\/p>\n
Barrabool’s Kane Pickering finished as the division’s leading run scorer and came second to Kerr for the Ray Menzies Medal.<\/p>\n
Pickering scored 687 at an average of 57.25. He also made the two highest scores of the season, scoring 137 not out against Collendina in Round 4, before making 204 not out against Portarlington just two rounds later.<\/p>\n
St Leonards’ Andrew Spengler received the Ian Caldwell Medal for the best A2 Grade Player.<\/p>\n
Spengler made 574 runs at an average of 52.18 as he helped St Leonards gain promotion to A1 Grade.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
