By the 2016 Census the population was 1,899, showing a population growth of 5.6 per cent in the area during that time.<\/h3>\n<p>Marshall, previously called Marshalltown, is an industrial and residential suburb 5km south of Geelong.<br \/>\nIts neighbouring area is Breakwater and was included in that area before gaining a separate name.<br \/>\nThe Breakwater area was used for tanneries, fellmongeries and animal byproduct industries.
