{"id":31772,"date":"2020-04-23T00:27:57","date_gmt":"2020-04-22T14:27:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/rsl-adapts-appeal\/"},"modified":"2020-04-23T00:27:57","modified_gmt":"2020-04-22T14:27:57","slug":"rsl-adapts-appeal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/rsl-adapts-appeal\/","title":{"rendered":"RSL adapts appeal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RSL Victoria has adapted its annual Anzac Appeal to continue to raise money for return service league men and women through an<br \/>\nonline campaign.<br \/>\nThe organisation decided to forgo its traditional face to face fundraising effort with volunteers selling Anzac badges shortly before the Victorian Government announced stage three restrictions.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Anzac Appeal is the RSL\u2019s biggest fundraiser of the year,\u201d RSL Victoria chief Jamie Twidale said.<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s when our hardworking volunteers usually sell Anzac badges on streets right across Victoria to raise money for our veteran support programs.<br \/>\n\u201cOur volunteers won\u2019t be fundraising on the streets this year. But Australians will be able to make an online donation at <a href=\"http:\/\/anzacappeal.com.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">anzacappeal.com.au<\/a> instead.<br \/>\n\u201cMoney raised through the Anzac Appeal will go where it always has \u2013 to fund vital services for veterans and their families.\u201d<br \/>\nRSL Victoria state president Dr Robert Webster said the coronavirus had increased the need for the RSL to raise funds to support veterans and their families.<br \/>\n\u201cMany of our veterans will be doing it especially tough. Some will be struggling with social isolation, physical and mental health problems.
