{"id":32066,"date":"2020-05-11T08:05:21","date_gmt":"2020-05-10T22:05:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/new-covid-19-respiratory-clinic-opens-in-ocean-grove\/"},"modified":"2020-05-11T08:05:21","modified_gmt":"2020-05-10T22:05:21","slug":"new-covid-19-respiratory-clinic-opens-in-ocean-grove","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/new-covid-19-respiratory-clinic-opens-in-ocean-grove\/","title":{"rendered":"New COVID-19 respiratory clinic opens in Ocean Grove"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">A TEMPORARY federally-funded COVID-19 respiratory clinic opened in <span class=\"markyplsbobkx\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Ocean<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"mark0sdm73gjs\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Grove<\/span> last week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The Bellarine Respiratory Clinic, which has been established by Epichealth, is part of the Morrison Government\u2019s $2.4 billion health package to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The appointment-only respiratory clinic at 27 Guthridge St will operate Monday to Friday between 9am and 12.30pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">It is in addition to Kardinia Health&#8217;s respiratory clinic, which opened several weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">COVID-19 testing is also being carried out at Barwon Health\u2019s University Hospital Building B in Geelong and Barwon Health North in Norlane.<\/p>\n<p>The Victorian Government&#8217;s testing blitz &#8211; in which <span lang=\"EN\">anyone<\/span><span lang=\"EN\"> can be tested even when they feel well and do not have symptoms of coronavirus &#8211; ends today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Epichealth acting chief executive officer Jeremy Forrester said the clinic had a soft opening on Thursday and tested 30 people just on Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We certainly didn&#8217;t expect that many this quickly, but what we have seen up in Kardinia Health and Barwon North is that there&#8217;s been an explosion in testing in the past two weeks.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Victorian Liberal Senator Sarah Henderson visited the clinic on Friday and welcomed the first testing site on the Bellarine Peninsula.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\u201cThe\u00a0Morrison\u00a0Government has been working with Epichealth and\u00a0Western Victoria Primary Health Network\u00a0to roll\u00a0out the new\u00a0<span class=\"markyplsbobkx\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Ocean<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"mark0sdm73gjs\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Grove<\/span> clinic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\u201cOur government has invested $207 million to establish some 100 respiratory clinics across Australia, including in rural and regional areas in each state and territory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\u201cAnother\u00a0200 fever clinics, jointly funded by the Commonwealth and State and Territory governments, are also in operation across Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A TEMPORARY federally-funded COVID-19 respiratory clinic opened in Ocean\u00a0Grove last week.
