QUEENSCLIFF could be Bellarine Peninsula\u2019s latest motorhome destination, thanks to a long-awaited dump point for travelers to dispose of waste for free.
\nHolidaymakers who are driving self-contained recreational vehicles can now rid their waste in an environmentally friendly manner, after the Borough of Queenscliffe opened the Hygeia Drive site last week.
\nQueenscliffe mayor Ross Ebbels said the news meant motorhome owners should put Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale at the \u201ctop of their travel lists\u201d as coronavirus restrictions ease and tourists venture out of their homes once more.
\n\u201cThe installation of this dump point makes Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale a more convenient and accessible place for visitors to stay.
\n\u201cIf you own an RV, camper van or mobile home, we\u2019re looking forward to welcoming you to the Borough as restrictions ease and you get back
\nto travelling.\u201d
\nThe installation forms part of the work council is undertaking to support local jobs during ongoing economic challenges.
\n\u201cWhile Council has directly supported traders with immediate financial relief measures during the coronavirus pandemic, we\u2019re also looking for ways to boost long-term economic recovery. This free dump point for motorhome visitors will encourage more people to stop and shop in
\nour community.\u201d
\nDump points are scarce in the local area with just a few publicly accessible points in the entire G21 region.
\nThe new dump point on Hygeia Drive will be free to use, and tourist information will be installed nearby to help visitors discover the town.
