TORQUAY Tigers Cricket Club are looking to build on a successful first season of senior women’s cricket ahead of the 2020\/21 season.<\/p>\n

The inaugural Geelong Cricket Association (GCA) Women’s T\/20 drew strong interest, with Torquay having enough players to field two teams.<\/p>\n

Torquay Tigers Cricket Club women’s cricket coordinator Sarah Boak said she was confident for the upcoming season the club would see a mixture of new and returning players.<\/p>\n

“From last season a lot of the girls enjoyed it that much that they are keen to reapply, but we are also putting out an expression of interest for new players to join the club.”<\/p>\n

Boak said there had been a fantastic atmosphere around the matches last season.<\/p>\n

“It’s just such a great feeling to be able to go out and have some fun and enjoy being able to go out and enjoy sport,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Everyone that was a part of the club wanted to get involved in some way and be a part of bringing women’s cricket to life in Torquay.”<\/p>\n

With Torquay’s junior girls’ teams predating the senior women’s teams, Boak said they would now be looking to integrate the two.<\/p>\n

“We’ve got an extensive junior program. Our seniors will mentor the junior players and help them progress so that they can then become our senior players down the track.”<\/p>\n

The club is currently also looking for a head coach who will oversee training for all of the women’s teams.<\/p>\n
