BUDDING scientists from Clifton Springs Primary School were in action last month as part of National Science Week celebrations.
\nThe restrictions of remote learning were not enough to stop the pupils from Prep to Grade 6 on August 21, who all conducted experiments and activities based on the topic of oceans.
\nAll facets of science were covered, from biological science, to chemical Science and physical science. The day also had a prevalent environmental theme, mixed in with a lot of fun.
\nPupils created dioramas, posters, Lego creations, “oceans in a bottle”, and even their own advertisements around the importance of looking after our oceans.
\nSome of the highlights included pupils creating water tricks, erupting volcanoes, bridges that carried weight, and boats that needed to float and carry cargo.<\/p>\n

\nClifton Springs Primary School<\/a> principal Meg Parker said the day was important for many reasons.
\n\u201cThe day carried a very important environmental message. However, just as importantly was that it allowed for time \u2018off screen\u2019 and to have some fun together as families.
\nThe STEM\/Science program is something we hold in high regard at CSPS so we really wanted to celebrate that in an exciting way.\u201d
\nGrade 6 pupil Pippa loved the day and said the volcano eruption was fun, because \u201cevery student loves messy activities and making things explode!\u201d.
\nFellow senior pupils Sam said she enjoyed the bridge building activity because it involved teamwork. \u201cWe got ours to carry 5kg, which was better than we thought. Our team worked so well together.\u201d
\nPupils and families were asked to send in photos of the day, and these photos will be displayed at school upon the pupils\u2019 return.
\nThe school said Science Day was a huge success and a chance for the pupils to really show their creative sides, and is already planning similar days in the future to avoid online learning fatigue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
