THE Bellarine Community Support Register has recognised some of its hardest-working members during its annual general meeting.
\nThe not-for-profit organisation makes care calls to people who have signed up to the register and who choose to receive calls.
\nDuring this time, many people are isolated from family and friends, and a call from the register is a means of ensuring that people are okay, connected to the community and, if necessary, linked into any services that they may require.
\nThe register held its AGM on September 4 via Zoom – a first for the organisation – to comply with COVID-19 requirements, and while some members were unable to participate, Bellarine Police were represented by Senior Sergeant Adrian Bickley.
\nService Recognition Awards were presented during the AGM.
\nThe register recognised Helen Shedden for an outstanding 10 years\u2019 service to the organisation. She has held many roles within the organisation, and continues to make a significant contribution during this time.
\nGlenys Francis and Denise Hibbins were recognised for five years of service, while Sandra Uthmeyer and Wendy Medhurst were recognised for two years of service.
\nThe committee noted Ros Williamson was stepping down, and thanked her for working tirelessly during her time as a committee member, including establishing local and statewide networks.

\nThe register continues to operate remotely during COVID-19 and this is likely to continue for some time.
\nThe organisation has a core group of volunteers who continue to make phone calls from Monday to Friday.
\nAnyone who isn\u2019t able to answer their phone is followed up on the day to ensure that all is well. If necessary, Bellarine Police will follow up with a welfare check.
