BARWON Heads Football Club has bolstered its title defence by recruiting former St Kilda and Collingwood player Nathan Brown for the 2021 season.<\/p>\n
Brown played 183 appearances in the AFL and was part of Collingwood’s 2010 premiership-winning side.<\/p>\n
The full-back announced his retirement from the AFL in July this year.<\/p>\n
He recently announced he would be joining the 2019 Bellarine Football League premiers.<\/p>\n
Brown said he was excited to be part of both the club and the community.<\/p>\n
“(I’m) very pleased to be joining a great club, with a great culture in a great town.<\/p>\n
“After moving down in late 2019, my family and I are very excited about becoming a part of the Barwon Heads community.”<\/p>\n
Barwon Heads Football Club director of football Brendan Curry said he was eager to secure Brown’s services once the opportunity arose.<\/p>\n
“I knew Nath from my previous role when I was chief executive officer at Williamstown Football Club and Nath got drafted to Collingwood, who were aligned with Williamstown, back in 2007.<\/p>\n
“I caught up with him when he was heading into the AFL season and obviously things got turned upside-down with COVID. He had to go up with the hub and made the decision to come back. So, it all resulted in him signing the other day.”<\/p>\n
Curry said Brown had plenty to offer the side on and off the field.<\/p>\n
“Not only will Nath be a high-quality player but he’s also a high-quality bloke, which is even more important.<\/p>\n
“It’s a huge signing for us, and we think there’s only great things to result from this.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
