GEELONG Mums will help 200 more families in need through a grant from EnergyAustralia.
\nThe electricity and gas provider has supported community projects and initiatives in the Geelong and Western District region with grants of up to $20,000 since 2014.
\nGeelong Mums<\/a> provides essential material items for babies and children identified through maternal child health nurses, social service providers and schools who support families from the City of Geelong extending to the Bellarine, Wyndham, Surf Coast and Colac Otway communities.
\nAmid steep rises in unemployment, family violence has escalated, as have the number of families living in poverty, and the Sleep Soundly Project aims to provide essential items to vulnerable families.
\nThe EnergyAustralia community grant will be used to create 200 linen packs to benefit 200 families in need.
\nThe packs include volunteer knitted woollen blankets, rehomed doona covers\/pillowcases, sheets, wraps, muslins, homemade quilts, new sheet sets, mattress protector and a baby sleeping bag.
\nThe Starfish Nippers program at Anglesea SLSC and the Torquay Lions Club also received grants this year.
\nEnergyAustralia has provided more than $120,000 to 12 not-for-profit organisations in the Geelong and Western Corridor region through its Community Grants initiative.
\nEnergyAustralia residential sales and service leader Casey Kaminskyj said EnergyAustralia remained committed to making a positive contribution to the local community.
\n\u201cOur contact centre, based in Geelong, directly employs hundreds of people in the region. Our employees are proud that these grants are awarded to important causes that continue to make the region a great place to live and work.
