THE City of Greater Geelong received an overwhelming response to its first round of Business Recovery Grants, where applicants will be considered for grants of up to $10,000 from a total pool of $500,000.<\/p>\n
Across the region, 141 businesses have applied for the financial support to help them to innovate, adapt and bounce back after the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n
City of Greater Geelong mayor Stephanie Asher said the high volume of applications indicated the significant number of businesses that have suffered from the impacts of COVID-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n
“Many businesses have faced significant challenges this year, with lockdowns and other restrictions impacting their operations and ultimately, their income.<\/p>\n
“We are pleased to be able to help hard-working local business owners to adapt, grow their operations and get back on their feet.”<\/p>\n
The applications are being assessed based on criteria set out in the grant guidelines, which includes requiring businesses to clearly explain the impact of COVID-19 on their business operations.<\/p>\n
Applicants were also required to demonstrate how their proposed project helps them to adapt to the post-COVID economy, showing innovation as well as a clear and realistic budget and timeline.<\/p>\n
The criteria places an emphasis on local procurements, asking businesses to demonstrate how they are committed to building local supply chains and supporting other local operators where possible.<\/p>\n
Examples of projects that would be considered include brand development and strategy, financial management systems, investment in technology as well as personal or professional development programs.<\/p>\n
“Each application will be carefully considered against the criteria, with funds allocated to businesses that demonstrate a clear commitment to clever and creative projects to help their business bounce back,” Cr Asher said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
