THE 15th edition of the Golden Plains Festival will not go ahead in autumn, but organisers are keen to see it return in 2022.<\/p>\n

One of the last major events of the festival season, Golden Plains usually runs over the three days of the Labor Day long weekend.<\/p>\n

It is held in the “Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre” – the same site as December’s annual Meredith Music Festival (MMF), which was also postponed this year due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

In a typically enigmatic announcement, MMF and Golden Plains organiser \u201cAunty Meredith\u201d emailed subscribers to \u201cbring news of an update to the Supernatural calendar\u201d last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Space-Time Continuum has wibbled, and it has webbled, but it has not wobbled open wide enough to grant safe passage for Golden Plains this autumn,\u201d the email said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen favourable atmospheric conditions return, the full, rolled-gold, four-dimensional GP experience will land again. All dancing, all singing from the same songbook, in a close encounter of the Fifteenth kind. One more spin around the sun should do the trick.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is not all bad news for Golden Plains, however, as the event was voted Best Festival – marking its third consecutive win – in the 2020 Music Victoria Awards<\/a>, announced last week.<\/p>\n

Golden Plains attracts about 12,000 music fans every year to see local, national, and international acts. This year’s lineup included Pixies, Hot Chip, Sampa The Great, Bill Callahan, Evelyn\u00a0 Champagne\u201d King with Mondo Freaks, Stereolab, DJ Sprinkles, Sleaford Mods, Floorplan, Weyes Blood and Electric Fields.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
