AVID cyclists across the region can get their cycling fix this summer thanks to the Summer of Cycling campaign.<\/p>\n

The team at CEGORR and Visit Victoria created the campaign which will promote cycling in the Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast regions.<\/p>\n

The Summer of Cycling launched last week and aims to give cyclists an opportunity to engage in the sport following the cancellation of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race (CEGORR).<\/p>\n

It will include regular EDMs including routes to ride in the regions, cycling tips and giveaways.<\/p>\n

An eight-week training program written by AusCycling education coordinator Greg Meyland will be on offer, as well as the launch of the Cadel Evans Road Race Strava Club, with a chance to win prizes. There will be cycling challenges throughout the campaign, such as a 200km New Year\u2019s Week challenge while there will also be an opportunity to ask Evans, who hails from Barwon Heads, any questions as 2021 marks the 10-year anniversary of his Tour de France triumph.<\/p>\n

CEGORR marketing manager Peter Glynn hoped this initiative would help provide the region with a much-needed taste of cycling.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that many people in the Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast regions are just as disappointed as us about the event not going ahead in January,\u201d Mr Glynn said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have therefore developed the CEGORR \u2018Summer of Cycling\u2019 \u2026 a series of initiatives have been put together to encourage cycling in the region over the summer period.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Cadel Evans Road Race is normally held in late January, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic it will not go ahead this year.<\/p>\n

The campaign will run until February 14.<\/p>\n
