AFL BARWON has missed its own self-imposed deadline to find a new regional general manager (RGM), but does not expect the delay to have any impact on the coming seasons of local football.<\/p>\n

The search for a new RGM to replace the departing Will McGregor began in December, but in a statement last week, the governing body said acting RGM Georgia Hillman would continue in the position indefinitely, with the recruitment process \u201cpaused for the time being\u201d.<\/p>\n

The RGM recruitment process will be reviewed again once the 2021 season begins.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile it was the AFL Barwon\u2019s intention to have filled the vacancy by this time, a change in personal circumstances from a successful applicant led the Commission to reviewing all information and placing a pause on the process,\u201d AFL Barwon<\/a> stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is to ensure all efforts from AFL Barwon is put towards the 2021 \u2018Play On\u2019 season, and ensuring our clubs, members and volunteers are prepared and equipped for the season ahead within the current timeframes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the interim, the Commission has full faith in its staff to ensure we all return to play in a safe manner.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is the Commission\u2019s belief that the pause on the RGM recruitment process will have no negative bearing on the functionality of the 2021 season.\u201d<\/p>\n

AFL Barwon says in the meantime it will be assisting clubs in the pre-season to work through COVID-safe protocols and seeing its members at \u2018The Game Plan\u2019 education event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
