{"id":37997,"date":"2021-03-11T00:52:55","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T13:52:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/ocean-grove-juniors-triumph-at-lsv-state-competition\/"},"modified":"2021-03-11T00:52:55","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T13:52:55","slug":"ocean-grove-juniors-triumph-at-lsv-state-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/sport\/ocean-grove-juniors-triumph-at-lsv-state-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Ocean Grove juniors triumph at LSV state competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JUNIOR life saving competitors from across the state headed to Warrnambool this weekend to compete in the LSV Junior Victorian State Championships at Warrnambool, with Ocean Grove SLSC crowned the overall club champion.<\/p>\n<p>Spectators enjoyed the traditional march past and belt and reel competitions, plus individual events including beach sprints, beach flags, swim, board and iron events, as well as team events.<\/p>\n<p>The final standings in the overall club championship were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ocean Grove SLSC, 181 points<\/li>\n<li>Point Leo SLSC, 117 points<\/li>\n<li>Mentone LSC, 93 points<\/li>\n<li>Anglesea SLSC, 84 points<\/li>\n<li>Jan Juc SLSC, 83 points<\/li>\n<li>Mornington LSC, 80 points.<\/li>\n<li>Lorne SLSC, 73 points<\/li>\n<li>Torquay SLSC, 72 points<\/li>\n<li>Warrnambool SLSC, 70 points<\/li>\n<li>Mordialloc LSC, 49 points.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to have held the Junior Victorian State Championships again,\u201d host club Warrnambool SLSC\u2019s president Justin Houlihan said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe saw some challenging conditions and some healthy competition this weekend &#8211; well done to all kids involved, the officials and to the Warrnambool SLSC members who have helped deliver the event, thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_49887\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-49887\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-49887\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/03\/Untitled-design-20-1-1024x538.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"336\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-49887\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Anglesea SLSC\u2019s Ellie Morgan dives for her flag during the Under 13 event.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Carnival referee David Laws said the weekend was terrific and an inclusive, enjoyable event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re so grateful to the junior athletes, their families, volunteer officials, water safety and powercraft, and of course our host club, Warrnambool SLSC,\u201d Laws said.<\/p>\n<p>The Junior Victorian State Championships marks the end of junior competition for the Under 13 age group, who will next year transition to the youth\/senior competition.
