{"id":38925,"date":"2021-05-13T00:13:03","date_gmt":"2021-05-12T13:13:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=38925"},"modified":"2021-05-19T13:43:03","modified_gmt":"2021-05-19T02:43:03","slug":"farrer-and-huppatz-rule-the-waves-at-junior-surfing-titles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/sport\/farrer-and-huppatz-rule-the-waves-at-junior-surfing-titles\/","title":{"rendered":"Farrer and Huppatz rule the waves at Junior Surfing Titles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE third and final round of the Woolworths Victorian Juinor Surfing Titles wrapped up over the weekend, with finals day held in 2-3 foot favourable conditions at Jan Juc Beach.<\/p>\n<p>Competitors tore apart the fun yet tricky waves on offer throughout both days of competition.<\/p>\n<p>The standout performer in the Under 18 Boys division was Ethan Huxtable (Jan Juc), who was ripping all weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Huxtable found himself in the final with a combined heat total of 13.27 and in first place until fellow competitor Charlie Farrer (Barwon Heads) stole the lead in the dying seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Left only needing a five-point ride with the heat drawing to a close, Farrer got hold of a left hander and produced a well-deserved 6.93 (out of 10), which elevated him to first position and the division win.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe conditions were quite fun out there,\u201d he said. \u201cI was lucky to have snuck that wave in the last few minutes of the heat, and am stoked to take out the win.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_52216\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-52216\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-52216\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/05\/Untitled-design-14-1-1024x538.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"336\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-52216\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">harlie Farrer charged into the lead with brilliant last-minute surfing in the Under 18 Boys division.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mia Huppatz (Jan Juc) walked away with a win in the Under 18 Girls division with a combined heat total of 8.77.<\/p>\n<p>Huppatz showed some smart surfing with nice powerful manoeuvres, and strategic surfing throughout the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConditions became tricky in the Under 18 Girls Final, with backwash creating a lump in the water,\u201d she said. \u201cI managed to get a couple, though.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not far behind Huppatz was Minni Vorrath, who required a 4.61 to improve on her situation and advance into first position.<\/p>\n<p>U14 Girls results:<br \/>\n1st Sara Hickson (Mornington) 12.77<br \/>\n2nd Sophie Wilkinson (Shoreham) 9.73<br \/>\n3rd Anna Huppatz (Jan Juc) 6.43<br \/>\n4th Maeve Wilkinson (Inverloch)<\/p>\n<p>U14 Boys results:<br \/>\n1st Rye Cicero (Sandy Point) 14.84<br \/>\n2nd Jarvis Barrow (Torquay) 12.26<br \/>\n3rd Remy Filer (Jan Juc) 9.50<br \/>\n4th Cove McPhee (Barwon Heads) 2.33<\/p>\n<p>U16 Girls results:<br \/>\n1st Eva Bassed (Sandy Point) 13.90<br \/>\n2nd Isla Huppatz (Jan Juc) 8.67<br \/>\n3rd Sarsha Panic (Blairgoewrie) 6.27<br \/>\n4th Juliet Muscroft (Jan Juc) 3.00<\/p>\n<p>U16 Boys results:<br \/>\n1st Jack Bassett (Barwon Heads) 13.00<br \/>\n2nd Willem Watson (Barwon Heds) 12.83<br \/>\n3rd Lucas Hickson (Mornington) 11.44<br \/>\n4th Isiah Norling (Barwon Heads) 10.16<\/p>\n<p>U18 Girls results:<br \/>\n1st Mia Huppatz (Jan Juc) 8.77<br \/>\n2nd Minnie Vorrath (Point Lonsdale) 7.54<br \/>\n3rd Emily McGettigan (Jan Juc) 6.26<br \/>\n4th Elise Franzose (Point Lonsdale) 4.96<\/p>\n<p>U18 Boys results:<br \/>\n1st Charlie Farrer (Barwon Heads) 14.63<br \/>\n2nd Ethan Huxtable (Jan Juc) 13.27<br \/>\n3rd Charlie Mahoney (Barwon Heads) 10.73<br \/>\n4th Asher Lens (Jan Juc) 9.44.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE third and final round of the Woolworths Victorian Juinor Surfing Titles wrapped up over the weekend, with finals day held in 2-3 foot favourable conditions at Jan Juc Beach.
