{"id":39103,"date":"2021-05-20T00:36:37","date_gmt":"2021-05-19T13:36:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=39103"},"modified":"2021-05-20T00:36:37","modified_gmt":"2021-05-19T13:36:37","slug":"divisions-confirmed-for-senior-womens-footy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/sport\/divisions-confirmed-for-senior-womens-footy\/","title":{"rendered":"Divisions confirmed for senior women\u2019s footy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AFL BARWON has locked in the divisions for 2021 Epworth Senior Female football across the Geelong region, following the completion of grading matches earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time in the competition\u2019s short history, there are three senior divisions comprising a record 20 teams.<\/p>\n<p>Division 1 teams:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Newtown &amp; Chilwell 1<\/li>\n<li>Geelong West Giants 1<\/li>\n<li>Barwon Heads 1<\/li>\n<li>Grovedale<\/li>\n<li>Geelong Amateur 1<\/li>\n<li>St Mary\u2019s 1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Division 2 teams:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Newtown &amp; Chilwell 2<\/li>\n<li>Geelong West Giants 2<\/li>\n<li>North Geelong<\/li>\n<li>St Mary\u2019s 2<\/li>\n<li>Drysdale<\/li>\n<li>Lara<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Division 3 teams:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Anglesea<\/li>\n<li>Torquay<\/li>\n<li>Barwon Heads 2<\/li>\n<li>St Joseph\u2019s<\/li>\n<li>Geelong Amateur 2<\/li>\n<li>South Barwon<\/li>\n<li>St Albans<\/li>\n<li>Colac Imperials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Women\u2019s footballers will also celebrate IDAHOBIT (the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia) &#8211; observed globally on Monday this week &#8211; with a special night match tomorrow (Friday, May 21) supported by the Surf Coast Shire council.<\/p>\n<p>With Anglesea\u2019s women\u2019s team making their debut into the Senior Female competition, the council wanted to work with both Surf Coast teams (Anglesea and Torquay) to start a new event and link the council\u2019s community celebration to a sport that is pioneering inclusiveness on all levels.<\/p>\n<p>The council has sourced a perpetual Surf Coast IDAHOBIT Cup for the winner to retain for the year, with the fixture hopefully becoming an ongoing annual event between the teams to help celebrate IDAHOBIT Day and what this means to the players, teams and the community.<\/p>\n<p>The Division 3 game between Anglesea and Torquay will be played at Ellimatta Reserve, Anglesea tomorrow from 7pm.<\/p>\n<p>For full fixtures for all three divisions, head to AFL Barwon&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AFL BARWON has locked in the divisions for 2021 Epworth Senior Female football across the Geelong region, following the completion of grading matches earlier this month.
