{"id":39274,"date":"2021-05-31T12:47:21","date_gmt":"2021-05-31T01:47:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/state-labor-rolls-out-250-million-package-to-support-businesses-in-lockdown\/"},"modified":"2021-05-31T12:57:10","modified_gmt":"2021-05-31T01:57:10","slug":"state-labor-package-lockdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/state-labor-package-lockdown\/","title":{"rendered":"State Labor rolls out $250 million package to support businesses in lockdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE LABOR Government has rolled out a package worth more than a quarter of a million dollars to help small- and medium-sized businesses and sole traders get through Victoria&#8217;s seven-day lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>The $250.7 million Circuit Breaker Business Support Package will help up to 90,000 Victorian businesses that have been affected by the restrictions that will run until 11.59pm on Thursday, June 3.<\/p>\n<p>The package has three initiatives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The $190.01 million second round of the Business Costs Assistance Program will offer grants of $2,500 for eligible businesses directly affected by the circuit-breaker industry restrictions, including restaurants and cafes, event suppliers, accommodation providers and non-essential retailers, with applications opening on Wednesday, June 2<\/li>\n<li>A $40.7 million new round of the Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund will provide businesses holding an eligible liquor licence and food certificate with a $3,500 grant per premises, and<\/li>\n<li>An allocation of $20 million will be dedicated to supporting operators in the events industry who have incurred losses due to the circuit-breaker restrictions, with more details to be provided soon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Businesses can register their interest in the\u00a0Business Costs Assistance Program at Business Victoria&#8217;s website so they can be notified when applications open this week.<\/p>\n<p>Operators eligible for the\u00a0Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund\u00a0payment will be contacted directly by email in coming days.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201c<\/em>The circuit-breaker action will keep Victorians safe and protect businesses and jobs \u2013 but we know it\u2019s not easy shutting your doors and putting your plans on hold,\u201d Acting Premier James Merlino said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis support will help businesses pay the bills and maintain their workforce as best they can, as we work together to get through this challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE LABOR Government has rolled out a package worth more than a quarter of a million dollars to help small- and medium-sized businesses and sole traders get through Victoria&#8217;s seven-day lockdown.
