This year the team at Barwon Valley Smallgoods has received gold for its smoked bacon and silver for its boneless ham, however past accolades have included recognition for a variety of products including a range of European sausages.<\/p>\n
“We are a small operator, we take a bit more care in our products,” Mr Batties said.<\/p>\n
“It is all handmade and not mass produced, unlike bigger companies ours is more boutique so a lot of love goes into it.”<\/p>\n
While the recognition is appreciated, Mr Batties said the best part of what he does is experimenting with his recipes and gaining loyal customers.<\/p>\n
“We have a strong following in the marketplace for our small goods,” he said.<\/p>\n
“People are introduced to our products and they tend to become loyal customers and keep coming back not just for one product but a range of items.<\/p>\n
“We like to hang our hat on a very loyal\u00a0customer base.”<\/p>\n
With annual awards piling in for the smallgoods company, they have experienced organic growth each year with more customers falling in love with the variety of smoked products, unique recipes and award-winning tastes.<\/p>\n
