PASSENGERS catching their train at North Shore Station will have safer access to the station, 200 car parks and purpose-built bicycle spaces next year.
\nThe state government will start a major upgrade of the car park at the station next year so it’s easier to catch the train.
\nA new car park will be built with at least 140 spaces and there will be upgrades to the existing car park to deliver a total of 200 new and upgraded spaces, as well as four new accessible spaces.
\nThe station upgrade will also include new lighting and CCTV for security, landscaping, and bicycle parking to encourage people to cycle to the station and connect to public transport, whether travelling to Melbourne, Geelong, Warrnambool or stops in between.
\nTrain travellers, or potential commuters, are encouraged to view the concept plan for the car park and share their thoughts on the design by completing an online survey.
\nTraffic flow and pedestrian access in and out of the car park; minimising the impact of the construction and operation of the car park on residents and the environment; safety and security; and future local transport plans will all being considered with the final design.
\nThe project is scheduled to be complete before the end of 2022 and is part of the government’s Car Parks for Commuters program to provide 11,000 new and upgraded car parks at stations across metropolitan and regional Victoria.
