THE Ocean Grove and Highton Rotary clubs are funding two students to complete their training to become school teachers.<\/p>\n
The Phenom Penh Rotary Club have a partnership with Promoting Education, Empowerment and Equality in Cambodia (PEPY) to provide scholarships for teachers.<\/p>\n
PEPY is a non-profit organisation providing personal and professional skills development training to rural youth primarily based in Cambodia’s Siem Reap Province.<\/p>\n
The scholarships will fund the teachers\u2019 final year of study and their early careers.<\/p>\n
The two recipients will teach in a Cambodian rural community.<\/p>\n
They are presently enrolled in a teaching college and are planning to teach in secondary schools.<\/p>\n
Mao Morn was born in Damnakchas Village, Sambour Commune, in Kralanh District.<\/p>\n
He has one younger sister and two younger brothers.<\/p>\n
Mao is presently studying Biology at Battambang Teacher Education Collage in Battambang Province.<\/p>\n
After graduation, he will teach in Sambur Secondary school in Kralanh District, Siem Reap Province.<\/p>\n
Tabb Saokun is from Taloeng Village, Ta Ann\u2019s Commune, Kralanh District in Siem Reap Province.<\/p>\n
She is the youngest of five siblings.<\/p>\n
Tabb is presently studying physics, also at Battambang Teacher Education Collage in Battambang Province.<\/p>\n
After graduating, she will teach at Angkor Chom Secondary School in Angkor Chom District in Siem Reap Province.<\/p>\n
Since 2012, PEPY has provided dedicated but financially disadvantaged rural youth in Cambodia the opportunity to chase their dreams and pursue higher education.<\/p>\n
Most recipients are from PEPY\u2019s high school Dream Management Project.<\/p>\n
The scholarship program is unique in the country that it includes three years of tuition to a university or vocational school in Siem Reap in addition to a bicycle, use of a computer, and 18 months of living allowance and healthcare until students obtain jobs to support themselves.<\/p>\n
The students are able to study in the university and degree program of their choice, in order to achieve their own dreams and aspirations.<\/p>\n
All scholars attend PEPY\u2019s Learning Center during their first year of studies, which provides them with academic, professional and interpersonal skills.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
