OCEAN Grove has been named as the location of one of five new regional Victorian cases of COVID-19, but no new public exposure sites have been added in Geelong or surrounds.<\/p>\n
At today’s press conference, Victoria’s Chief Health Office Professor Brett Sutton said one of the five cases was in the Bellarine Peninsula and was linked with construction work in metropolitan Melbourne.<\/p>\n
The Victorian Government’s latest update to its list of active cases by postcode shows one new case in the 3226 postcode, which covers Ocean Grove.<\/p>\n
A new case in the Mitchell Shire is also linked to construction work in Melbourne.<\/p>\n
“We are further investigating and will provide more information soon,” Professor Sutton said.<\/p>\n
Cases were also recorded in Mildura and the Latrobe Valley.<\/p>\n
Earlier today, the Victorian Government announced all of regional Victoria except Greater Shepparton would come out of lockdown on Friday this week.<\/p>\n
Professor Sutton said the “modest” changes were “safe and appropriate steps we can take to grant extra freedoms for those in regional Victoria”.<\/p>\n
“Shepparton has done a fantastic job but it\u2019s taken several weeks and tens of thousands of people quarantining and thousands and thousands of getting tested to start getting under control.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s looking good but it takes an enormous effort and no town in regional Victoria wants to go through that if we can manage that risk.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
