GEELONG assistant coach Corey Enright is changing clubs, with the former Cats star landing a new job as an assistant coach in charge of defence at St Kilda.<\/p>\n
Enright is departing the Geelong Football Club after 332 games as a player and five years as an assistant coach.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m thankful to have been able to spend such a long time at a special place,” he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I first walked in the doors 22 years ago I could not have dreamed of having such a great experience here.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe club holds so many great memories. We were able to achieve a lot of success and seeing the joy that gave people was special.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been given opportunities to be myself, to grow and contribute in so many ways.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe biggest thing that I take away though are the friendships and relationships that have been built through this journey. These will remain forever and are so special.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am so thankful to have had such a great experience with the club. While it\u2019s always hard to say goodbye, I am excited by the challenge that lies ahead. My family have always been so supportive and I thank them for allowing me to grow my experience as a coach.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said he was ready to hit the ground running at St Kilda.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to this next chapter with the St Kilda Football Club.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m proud of what I learned throughout my time at the Cats, and am thankful for all the opportunities they\u2019ve given me, however I\u2019m looking forward to a new challenge.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe the Saints have a really exciting young group and I can\u2019t wait to get to work.\u201d<\/p>\n
Geelong\u2019s general manager of football Simon Lloyd said Enright was held in the highest standing by everyone at the Cats and had made an incredible contribution to the club as a player, coach and a person.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe understand that Corey is looking to grow his experience by working in a different program as he advances in his coaching career. He is obviously one of the greatest and most important people in the club\u2019s history. We have been fortunate to have him as such an important member of our club for so long.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe club will be eternally gratefully for everything that Corey has done for the team, the club and the community. We wish Corey, Renee and the family all the best in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
