A NEW date has been locked in for this year\u2019s Geelong Two Feet and a Heartbeat Charity Walk due to the COVID-19 restrictions currently in place.<\/p>\n
Originally planned to take place on October 10 at Armstrong Boulevard, Mount Duneed, the four-kilometre walk and community market has been postponed by a month-and-a-half.<\/p>\n
The event will still be taking place at Bunjils Nest District Park on the new date of Sunday, November 28, with an updated pre-Christmas market involving vendors and stalls to be on site as originally planned.<\/p>\n
Hannah Pearl, the organiser of the event and mother-of-three, has had the difficult task of advertising the new event, getting in touch with supporters and getting the relevant permits in place.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m feeling pretty confident that the market will be going ahead on November 28, but if restrictions forbid, the community walk part of the event may be cancelled,\u201d Ms Pearl said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccording to the roadmap though, we should be in a position to do the community walk, which will be two laps from Bunjils Nest District Park to Pencil Park being a total of four kilometres.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Pearl mentioned that one of the many reasons people want to support the event is because all vendors involved with the Community Market will give back proceeds to the HeartKids Foundation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have two different food vendors that have been touched by knowing someone with a heart condition,\u201d Ms Pearl said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone will be there to support each other, and we just want to put smiles on everyone\u2019s faces especially after a horrible COVID year. We want to have live music and we want to have entertainment go ahead.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is going to be a very emotional day for a lot of families in Geelong and there are a lot of people in the region touched by HeartKids. We just want to reach those families and let them know we are here and we want to connect.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stallholders will still be offering candles, slices, cakes, dried flowers, fresh flowers, and coffee, and features such as roving entertainers, the local CFA truck, jumping castle and face painting will be available as originally intended.<\/p>\n
Committed sponsors include Connectel, Avenue Five Real Estate, Villawood Properties, Kerr\u2019s Hire, and Darren Cheeseman.<\/p>\n
The event has raised more than $7,000 to date.<\/p>\n
