BRUCE Harwood has been appointed as the new region manager for AFL Barwon.<\/p>\n
The incumbent City of Greater Geelong councillor and former mayor has a long association with football and netball as a player, supporter and administrator, and has been a long-time advocate for community sport in the region.<\/p>\n
AFL Barwon announced Mr Harwood’s appointment earlier today (Friday, October 22).<\/p>\n
\u201cI am really pleased with this appointment. We have completed a very thorough process and had a number of excellent applicants,\u201d AFL Barwon chair Craig Keating said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBruce brings a wealth of experience in business and community engagement to AFL Barwon and his energy and passion for the region will enhance the development of our community sports of football and netball as we move out of the COVID-impacted years of 2020 and 2021.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI would also like to acknowledge and thank the great work of Georgia Hillman and Sean Atkinson who both led the AFL Barwon team over the past season in the roles as Acting RGM with distinction.<\/p>\n
“Both Georgia and Sean deserve great credit for navigating the challenges of 2021 and can be proud of their work. The whole AFL Barwon team has performed brilliantly under difficult circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n
