GEELONG Mums is bringing together the local corporate sector to support babies and children waiting for essential nursery equipment with its inaugural Geelong Mums Business Breakfast.<\/p>\n
The networking opportunity is being held at GMHBA Stadium later this month.<\/p>\n
Hosted by Kylie Oliver, guests will hear from best-selling author, public speaker and gender equality advocate Jamila Rizvi and help raise much-needed funds for Geelong Mums.<\/p>\n
Rizvi is author of the best-selling Not Just Lucky, a career manifesto for millennial women; and The Motherhood, an anthology of letters about life with a newborn.<\/p>\n
Her latest books are a collection of stories about older Australian women titled Untold Resilience and a children\u2019s book I\u2019m a Hero Too.<\/p>\n
She is the co-founder of the popular event series \u201cTea with Jam and Clare\u201d, which attracts an audience of thousands each year.<\/p>\n
The Geelong Mums Business Breakfast aims to increase support for Geelong Mums and their work in providing a safe start for vulnerable babies and children.<\/p>\n
The past 18 months have been incredibly challenging for the families supported by Geelong Mums.<\/p>\n
With the impact of a global pandemic and multiple lockdowns, the local not-for-profit organisation saw an increase in people asking for help.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re very excited to be holding this important fundraising event and providing the Geelong business community with a greater insight into the work we do,\u201d Geelong Mums head of social services and impact Julia Roache said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe money raised will help even more families on our waitlist receive urgent assistance prior to Christmas.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Geelong Mums Business Breakfast will be held at the Presidents\u2019 Room, GMHBA Stadium, on November 24.<\/p>\n
Tickets to the event, which went on sale earlier this month, are $80 each or $800 for a table of 10, which includes a session of corporate volunteering for workplace teams.<\/p>\n
