We\u2019re creating experiences that are perfect for family photos and selfies.<\/p>\n<p>You can kiss under the mistletoe at Armstrong Creek, join Santa in a Snow Globe at Barwon Heads, sit with Santa at Corio Library, or become an angel at the Geelong Arts Centre.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_62027\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62027\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62027 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/In-Article-Picture-17.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-62027\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Be an angel at the Geelong Arts Centre or join Santa in a snow globe on the Giant Selfie Trail which has 22 selfie destinations across the City of Greater Geelong.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Floating Christmas Tree<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Everyone looks forward to the return of the Floating Christmas Tree to Geelong Waterfront and we\u2019re thrilled to help families enjoy free entertainment at this special time of year.<\/p>\n<p>The tree is powered up from 8.30pm to midnight each evening. The free sound and light show lasts for six minutes and runs every 15 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>About the tree:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The 10-tonne steel Christmas tree was constructed by Geelong manufacturer Hanlon Industries in 2014<\/li>\n<li>The tree is 25 metres tall and made up of 400 LED lights and 11,000 reflective discs<\/li>\n<li>The star is four-metres wide and gently rotates with the wind direction<\/li>\n<li>Prior to COVID-19, the floating tree attracted 193,000 visitors, and<\/li>\n<li>The tree will be in place until Friday, January 7, 2022 (to align with Orthodox Christmas).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_62028\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62028\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62028 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/In-Article-Picture-16.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-62028\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">See the Floating Christmas Tree at Geelong Waterfront.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Santa letters and competition<\/strong><br \/>\nFamilies in Greater Geelong can post a letter in Santa\u2019s mailbox as well as enter a Christmas competition to win a visit from the big red man himself.<\/p>\n<p>Children can post letters to Santa at Geelong Waterfront or in Norlane, while Santa is also preparing to visit the home of one lucky family who will be declared winners in the City of Greater Geelong\u2019s Christmas competition.<\/p>\n<p>Santa will bring a gift for the lucky child and will hear their Christmas wishes. The city\u2019s photographer will take commemorative photos of the child and their family as they soak up the Christmas magic.<\/p>\n<p>To go in the running to win a visit from Santa, submit your details before 12pm Tuesday, December 14, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The winner will be announced on the city\u2019s Facebook page and Santa will make the special visit on Friday, December 17, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Families can also go in the running to win weekly prizes such as hampers and gift cards.
