{"id":43765,"date":"2022-01-15T04:00:40","date_gmt":"2022-01-14T17:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=43765"},"modified":"2022-01-12T14:40:38","modified_gmt":"2022-01-12T03:40:38","slug":"beer-festival-postponed-to-new-date","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/beer-festival-postponed-to-new-date\/","title":{"rendered":"Beer Festival postponed to new date"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CELEBRATIONS have been put on ice with this weekend&#8217;s Great Australian Beer Festival Geelong being postponed due to the evolving COVID-19 situation.<\/p>\n<p>Organiser Kieran Blood confirmed the difficult decision to set a new date of April 2 was made after careful consideration and consultation with key stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>The popular event was set to take place in Johnstone Park this Saturday (January 15) with two sessions featuring 35 breweries and entertainment by an array of performers including headline acts The Badloves and Art vs Science.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Blood said the good news was that both bands had been confirmed for the new date.<\/p>\n<p>In an official statement on the GABF Facebook page, organisers said although the postponement was disappointing, &#8220;we believe this is the most sensible and socially responsible approach in response to the current COVID-19 situation&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our top priority is the health and wellbeing of all people involved in our events, which means that despite being deemed low-risk by national and state authorities due to the outdoor nature of our festival, the uncertainty surrounding the escalating COVID-19 cases means that postponing the event date is the best way we can help mitigate the impact of the virus for all in our community,&#8221; the post stated.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_43769\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-43769\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-43769\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2022\/01\/art-2-300x190.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2022\/01\/art-2-300x190.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2022\/01\/art-2.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-43769\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Art vs Science will perform on the new date.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>All existing tickets to GABF Geelong will be honoured for April 2 or refunds are available to those who can&#8217;t make the new festival date.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Please remember that by choosing to hold on to your ticket, you not only secure your spot at the new GABF date, you also support the events industry as a whole as well as all of the businesses and individuals affected over the past 2.5 years,&#8221;
