{"id":44417,"date":"2022-02-10T05:06:54","date_gmt":"2022-02-09T18:06:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/new-sports-medicine-centre-treats-everyone-like-an-athlete\/"},"modified":"2022-02-10T11:32:09","modified_gmt":"2022-02-10T00:32:09","slug":"new-sports-medicine-centre-treats-everyone-like-an-athlete","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/new-sports-medicine-centre-treats-everyone-like-an-athlete\/","title":{"rendered":"New Sports Medicine Centre treats everyone like an athlete"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A NEW rehabilitation and fitness centre in North Geelong has merged medical treatment and state-of-the-art sport facilities in one location.<\/p>\n<p>Geelong Sports Medicine Centre (GSMC) is bringing together healthcare and fitness facilities with a commercial size gymnasium, clinical Pilates and movement studio, hydro pool and more, all alongside Allied healthcare practitioner consulting rooms.<\/p>\n<p>The facility was dreamed-up and founded by couple Emma and Nick Jamar.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Jamar said GSMC focuses on holistic rehabilitation and provides the general public with facilities usually only available to elite athletes.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_64437\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-64437\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-64437 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/02\/Hydrotherapypoola_25712-1-600x380.jpg?_t=1644452270\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-64437\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GSMC is designed to be all-inclusive, with state-of-the-art sport facilities in one location, including a hydrotherapy and spa.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou look at someone like an AFL footballer \u2026 they\u2019ve got a team of health professionals and the facilities. Just because you\u2019re not an elite sportsperson doesn\u2019t mean you shouldn\u2019t be able to have access to this,\u201d Mrs Jarman said.<\/p>\n<p>She said Nick, who has been a physiotherapist in Geelong for 20 years, also saw the need for medical practitioners to communicate and coordinate patient rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe found lot of people would come and see him and then he would send them off to a gymnasium or somewhere else to work on their rehabilitation, and there was no one communication of managing the whole pathway,\u201d Mrs Jarman said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_64443\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-64443\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-64443 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/02\/PhysioNedHarris_92472-1-e1644452415436.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"461\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-64443\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Physio Ned Harris working with client in the GSMC facilities.
