{"id":45658,"date":"2022-04-07T04:30:30","date_gmt":"2022-04-06T18:30:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=45658"},"modified":"2022-04-06T10:44:55","modified_gmt":"2022-04-06T00:44:55","slug":"branches-and-community-to-gather-for-inaugural-emergency-services-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/branches-and-community-to-gather-for-inaugural-emergency-services-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Branches and community to gather for inaugural Emergency Services Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG\u2019S northern community will have the chance to meet and connect with the area\u2019s vital emergency service branches during a jam-packed day of fun.<\/p>\n<p>Corio Village\u2019s preparations are in full swing for its first Emergency Services Day on Sunday (April 10) featuring a showcase of branches committed to serving the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCorio Village is thrilled to finally be able to host a large-scale event such as Emergency Services Day,\u201d centre manager Curtis Gillet said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe day provides an important opportunity for locals to connect with and learn more about our emergency services and their personnel who work hard for our community every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Emergency Services Day will feature displays and live demonstrations, free children\u2019s entertainment and a<br \/>\nGMHBA handball competition.<\/p>\n<p>Performances from local buskers and Northern Bay College\u2019s student band running throughout the day will keep the atmosphere festive.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 737px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/04\/VICSES182035_16726.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"737\" height=\"553\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Branches including the SES will be in attendance to greet the community at Corio Village&#8217;s Emergency Services Day.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Local emergency services including the Corio Police, CFA, SES, Ambulance Victoria, Barwon Health, Barwon Water, Parks Victoria, and Forest Fire Management will be on hand next Sunday to meet the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t wait for our customers, young and old, to see what we have been planning over the past couple of months. This is certainly a day that you won\u2019t want to miss,\u201d Mr Gillet added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe encourage our community to make the most of this event, engaging with our local emergency services and seeing all that Corio Village has to offer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Major prizes will be drawn from 1pm on the day when the Village\u2019s Surf, Dive N Ski team joins the event.<\/p>\n<p>Prizes include five passes to the RipCurl Pro, a $150 Sou\u2019West Brewery voucher, a $50 Surf, Dive N Ski voucher and Surf, Dive N Ski products.<\/p>\n<p>Participants can enter by snapping a selfie at Corio Village\u2019s wave wall (located opposite Prouds near Centre Court) and following the prompts on the day.<\/p>\n<p>More information can be found at www.coriovillage.com.au\/news\/emergency-services-day\/.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG\u2019S northern community will have the chance to meet and connect with the area\u2019s vital emergency service branches during a jam-packed day of fun.
