{"id":50527,"date":"2022-06-11T04:30:44","date_gmt":"2022-06-10T18:30:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=50527"},"modified":"2022-06-08T12:45:37","modified_gmt":"2022-06-08T02:45:37","slug":"big-target-for-vital-fundraiser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/big-target-for-vital-fundraiser\/","title":{"rendered":"Big target for vital fundraiser"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BARWON Health Foundation (BHF) has set a lofty $300,000 target for its annual fundraising month to go towards a major healthcare expansion for north Geelong.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital foundation has launched its Giving Month for June and is calling on locals to donate, fundraise and volunteer in support of the health service.<\/p>\n<p>BHF has expanded its annual appeal from the traditional Giving Weekend, with the month to culminate in a tin-rattling event on the last weekend of June.<\/p>\n<p>Funds raised during the appeal will support Project North; a $2.5 million drive for a purpose-built public dental facility Barwon Health North, Norlane, which would allow an extra 14,000 people to receive urgent and necessary dental care each year.<\/p>\n<p>BHF executive director Zoe Walters urged the Geelong community to dig deep and support the important project.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are calling on the community of Geelong to give generously this Giving Month as we work to raise over $300,000 to take a giant step closer to our dream of building healthier futures for people in the north,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;d love to see local schools host a casual dress day fundraiser, offices enjoy a gold coin donation morning tea or sporting clubs pass a collection tin around at their post-game function \u2013 the options are endless this Giving Month.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_50538\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-50538\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-50538\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2022\/06\/Untitled-design-1-300x170.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2022\/06\/Untitled-design-1-300x170.png 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2022\/06\/Untitled-design-1-1024x580.png 1024w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2022\/06\/Untitled-design-1-768x435.png 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2022\/06\/Untitled-design-1.png 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-50538\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Barwon Health North would host the new public dental facility, to be constructed above the green building.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Donations to BHF are tax-deductible, with the foundation to issue immediate tax receipts.<\/p>\n<p>The foundation is accepting donations in-person, online and over the phone during the month.<\/p>\n<p>It is also encouraging local groups to host fundraisers and for locals to volunteer for the weekend tin-shake.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BARWON Health Foundation (BHF) has set a lofty $300,000 target for its annual fundraising month to go towards a major healthcare expansion for north Geelong.
