FOOD lovers found plenty of flavours to enjoy over the weekend as the Tastes of Central Geelong festival got underway in the Geelong region.<\/p>\n

Vendors at the festival enjoyed an influx of people coming through the sites, with undoubtedly the Queen\u2019s Birthday long weekend playing a helping hand in getting a big crowd out into the streets of Geelong.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were really pleased with crowd numbers across the first weekend of the festival,\u201d a City of Greater Geelong spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe festival started with a sell-out event at the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre as award-winning pastry chef Anna Polyviou revealed plenty of tips and tricks that you can use to make classic sweet treats at home.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe even got out her decks for a DJ session which was very entertaining.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so exciting to see locals and visitors back enjoying food and entertainment across Central Geelong after two years of COVID-19 restrictions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deputy mayor Trent Sullivan said this year\u2019s program would continue to include a variety of fun-filled events which would showcase the passion and skill of local producers and venues.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrab your friends and family and head into Central Geelong for some of the fabulous events that are on offer,\u201d Cr Sullivan said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ll get to continue to meet the people behind Geelong\u2019s best small businesses and sample their amazing food and wine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sullivan encouraged people to rug up, embrace winter and get on out to the amazing sites across the region.<\/p>\n

The festival over the coming days will include walking tours as well as a sold-out afternoon tea at The Pier with one of Australia\u2019s favourite cooks, Adam Liaw.<\/p>\n

Festival-goers will also get the chance to fill a goodie bag full of treats from participating businesses across Central Geelong.<\/p>\n
