	{"id":51650,"date":"2022-07-07T04:00:15","date_gmt":"2022-07-06T18:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=51650"},"modified":"2022-07-05T11:44:10","modified_gmt":"2022-07-05T01:44:10","slug":"the-winter-blues-are-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/living\/the-winter-blues-are-back\/","title":{"rendered":"The Winter Blues are back"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AFTER two years of COVID cancellations, Echuca Moama\u2019s legendary Winter Blues Festival is back in 2022, bringing some of Australia\u2019s best blues and roots artists to town from July 28-31.<\/p>\n<p>Celebrating its 22nd year, the Winter Blues Festival is a free event that takes place in the pubs, restaurants and cafes of Echuca\u2019s historic port precinct, with more than 50 acts performing live across the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Event organiser Peter Williams said Echuca Moama turns into a mini New Orleans over the Festival weekend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Winter Blues Festival is one of the best weekends of the year in Echuca Moama, with the town coming alive with music, food and a cruisey vibe,\u201d Mr Williams said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe event is unique. There are no tickets and visitors can wander between venues as the sultry sounds of the blues fills the air of the Echuca Port precinct. Each venue showcases different acts and their distinctive brand of hospitality, serving up their best cuisine and local drops all weekend,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_72944\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-72944\" style=\"width: 746px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-72944 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/GeoffAchisonSoulDig_28875.jpg?_t=1656378970\" alt=\"\" width=\"746\" height=\"992\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-72944\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Geoff Achison &amp; The Souldiggers will be a highlight of the Winter Blues program.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Venues that will be hosting acts across the weekend include The American Hotel, Star Hotel and riverside marquee, 1895 The Royal, Caledonian Hotel, Shamrock Hotel, Echuca Club, Henry\u2019s Hotel, Radcliffe\u2019s Port 53, The Odd Captain and the PS Canberra paddlesteamer.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights from the program include Broderick Smith, Sweet Felicia &amp; The Honeytones, 19 Twenty, Andrew Farrell the Piano Wizard, Bill Barber, Collard Greens &amp; Gravy, Geoff Achison &amp; The Souldiggers, Kelly Auty &amp; The Extraordinary Gentlemen, Nardia and Rambal \u2013 among others.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_72940\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-72940\" style=\"width: 521px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-72940\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/Andrewfarrell_29253.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"521\" height=\"782\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-72940\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Andrew Farrell the Piano Wizard is widely acknowledged as a versatile and virtuoso pianist.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The only ticketed event of the weekend is the famous Wrap Party, featuring a star-studded lineup of artists, collaborating and jamming in true blues style.
